Soon, the familiar Mac OS X Snow Leopard settings screen will load to select region settings and configure a virtual machine like any new Mac. If you see a series of error messages with white text on a black screen, ignore all of this and let VirtualBox start. Close Settings, select your virtual machine, and click the Start button to start the virtual machine.In Settings, click “Save” and then search for “IDE Driver” to remove the Snow Leopard installation DVD, ISO, or DMG – if you don’t, the virtual machine will restart in the installer and not in Mac OS X 10.6.When the installation is complete and you return to the VirtualBox Manager screen, click the gear icon under “Settings”.Let the installer run, this will take some time (30-45 minutes) and just ignore the “Remaining time” estimate because it’s inaccurate – if it looks frozen or stuck, it’s not, the progress bar just jumps in large chunks and doesn’t gradually increase.Select the name of the hard drive you just formatted and click “Install”.
Now close Disk Utility and return to the general Mac OS X installer.Select “Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)” and name something on your hard disk, then click “Delete”.
